One of my favourite acting stories of the show is actually what happens right after this flashback. We shot Gina’s side first, and Gina’s line is, I always knew you had it in you, when [Nate] says that he’s working the other side of the law now. But when I was working with Gina, I said to her that the subtext of that line is, I always knew you were in love with me. So I said, “This is the subtext.” And then we did the scene and she really nailed the performance. When we turned around on Tim, his first take was good but it wasn’t great. So I whispered into Gina’s ear, “Don’t say the line; say the subtext.” So off-camera, she said, “I always knew you were in love with me.” […] And it’s so honest. It was such an honest moment.
